  • Super place in just the best location. If you're planning on escaping from everything and heading for the hills Ridge House is perfect. Beautifully decorated, super cosy, well equipped - we couldn't fault it and didn't really want to leave. Mary & Jonny have done a beautiful job. It's perfect!

  • This is a fantastic house. We had a wonderful break with cosy nights by the fire and so much to do nearby. Highly recommend.

  • Mary and Jonny were amazing hosts! They were super helpful and went above and beyond! The house itself is just an interior dream! Super cosy, warm and homely. Beautiful views in every direction! Although a little out of Sedbergh, lots of walks across the way and not far from Kendal! Easy access to Windermere and other locations. We have two little ones and were able to find lots to do daily (especially in the garden). We had food twice in Ravenstonedale at the Kings Head which is a 10/15min drive (well worth it). Thank you so much for everything! We will be back!

  • The house is in beautiful, peaceful location. There are amazing views of the hills from every window. A lot of thought has gone into the design of the house and decor. The furnishings and fittings are of a high standard. There is a lovely dining kitchen and outdoor seating area and garden that the kids enjoyed, also very cosy with the woodburner. There are many great walks including to Cautley waterfall but also a short drive into Sedbergh for shops, pubs etc. It's much quieter than the Lake District. Hosts were great and a lovely welcome pack was provided too.

  • We had a fantastic stay at Ridge House. The location is incredible with walks right from the door into the surrounding hills. It’s 5minutes drive from Sedbergh as well which has a butcher and grocer, some nice pubs and lovely walks along the river. However, that said, the house is just so gorgeous, with such attention to detail, that you’d be forgiven for just staying there and not going out! The outside space is a lovely sun trap, the living room has beautiful views and the kitchen dining room is a fantastic family friendly room. Mary and Jonny were both incredibly hospitable and we were so grateful they shared their home with us!

  • Beautifully comfortable and spotless house that Mary and Jonny have finished fantastically. We had a gorgeous low-key few days of walking, lazy suppers and pottering around.

    Iona, London

  • We stayed here for three nights. We love this house: the 360 degrees stunning views, the colorful and well-tended garden, the thoughtfully decorated rooms, and the impressive kitchen. This is definitely one of the best holiday cottages we’ve stayed at so far. We are definitely coming back to this house if we ever come back to visit this area.

  • My family had a wonderful stay here. The location is beautiful, with stunning views and the local town just a short drive away. The house is very well decorated throughout, with plenty of space for everyone. Lots of lovely bonuses - like the easy parking, being pet friendly, and a stocked fire place!

  • Mary and Jonny were so great during our stay - Mary was super friendly and responsive to all the questions I had! The house itself is absolutely beautiful, had everything we needed, and it was clear it was decorated with so much thought and care. The views were stunning, only a short walk from Cautley Spout. Can’t wait to come back here one day, we have thoroughly enjoyed our week here. Thank you so much for having us!

  • The most wonderful property! Mary and Jonny’s place is something to behold. Carved into the natural surroundings, it’s everything you could want for a perfect holiday in the great outdoors. Windows that overlook the beautiful Yorkshire Dales and within drivable distance of the Lake District, this place will be one that we will be coming back to in the near future. Our three children all asked, ‘Can we live here?’ throughout our trip - this says it all. We loved the nearby town of Sedbergh, the impressive Cautley Spout walk and the beautiful trail runs up to The Calf and nearby peaks. Coming back to a log fire in a beautiful home made this holiday one that we will remember for a long time.

  • This was, without question, the best holiday cottage we’ve experienced across numerous stays throughout Europe. The environment allowed us to fully unwind, and it stands out as one of the few genuinely dog-friendly properties we've encountered. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there and are already looking forward to returning.

  • Fabulous house in a beautiful, peaceful location. Ridge House has fantastic views, has been beautifully decorated and has a great kitchen and wonderful log burner. Close to Sedbergh with great butchers, shops and pubs. Lots of walks close by. We had a great stay and would definitely return.

  • I highly recommend Ridge House to everyone. The location is amazing, with beautiful scenery and it's a great place to use as a base to explore other areas from. The local town of Sedbergh is a short drive away which was very useful. The house ticked all our boxes; we wanted an old cosy house with a wood burner in a remote location. The bonus of the home being modernised to fulfil our needs as a family with young children was fantastic. The kids enjoyed exploring the books and toys and the cosy den was ideal for keeping contained and safe. Love this house and definitely want to book this again!

    Alexandra, UK

  • Mary couldn’t have made us feel more welcome and instantly at home. And a home it is, so cosy, beautifully decorated, comfortable beds, wood burner ready to go, underfloor heating… Every detail considered, from the abundance of blankets to the basket of slippers, the well kitted-out kitchen, with a wooden chopping board for every purpose to knives that are actually sharp! The grounds are gorgeous, the views spectacular and we all said, “this is the perfect house”. Jonny’s wood working skills were not lost on us either. Perfect stay! We’ll return, for sure.

  • Only positive things to say about the house and our stay. It was perfect for our boys (grandsons, dads and grandfather) walking weekend. Our local excursion over the fells was fantastic and of course from the house you are striking distance (in the car) from the Lake District, Cumbria or Yorkshire. The house itself is really well equipped and laid out, all very well thought out and beautifully prepared. Friendly notes around the places were a lovely touch. Our host Mary was very quick to respond in the build up and during our stay. Views from the house during the day were lovely to take in and in the evening with the log burner it was a very cosy spot to be. If you want a nice day trip without getting into the car I recommend the loop walk from the house - north to Cautely Spout (over the countryside rather than via road), up onto the hill tops (great views west) and then down to Sedbergh for a nice late lunch at The Black Bull, before walking back to the house. A good 5 hours walking.
