We - Jonny and Mary - bought Ridge House in the winter of 2017. Despite the lack of central heating and leaky roof we moved in in time for Christmas.

We got married the following summer in the church next-door and had our reception in the garden.

Full of youthful enthusiasm, we spent the next 7 years slowly and sustainably renovating our forever home. Our family grew from just the two of us and our two cats, to include a dog, a baby, and then another one in fairly quick succession.

We doubled the house in size to accommodate our growing family, and once the insulation, double glazing and central heating were installed it slowly started to become the cosy family home we’d envisioned all those years ago.

Jonny is a carpenter by trade, and specialises in traditional oak framed buildings. Almost everything in the house has been handmade by him - from the timber panelled walls to the kitchen cupboards, oak light mounts and copper loo roll holders.

Mary has a background in interior design and conservation of historic buildings and she has a passion for bringing old forgotten buildings back to life.

Ridge House is a very special place to us, and we plan to live there again one day, but for now we love welcoming guests to share this special place with us. We hope you love it as much as we do!
